How did you become a Test Man?
10+ years experience in the wireless industry as a cell tech and cell site installer.
What’s the most rewarding part of your day? To locate and troubleshoot Verizon Wireless problem areas before our customers experience them.
What do you have in common with the Test Man in the commercials? My job is very similar to the television Test Man when I’m monitoring the Washington, D.C. metro system, walking underground to make sure our network is performing perfectly. But when we test our network above the ground using our baseline test vehicles, all our test calls are automated.
Which traits make you a successful Test Man? You have to be hard-working.
What does “It’s the Network” mean to you? Good, reliable service that sets Verizon Wireless apart from all other carriers.
Why does Verizon Wireless need to test the network every day? Making sure that we provide the best possible coverage and service to our customers.
What is the most unique place you have visited to test the Verizon Wireless network? Washington, D.C. – even though it’s a small market geographically, it takes days to finish the test routes. The city is beautiful and has a number of unique neighborhoods. I love my trips to the district.
How does Verizon Wireless use the data you collect? To make sure we’re delivering the service customers expect; to find and fix problems before they’re ever apparent to customers; to identify areas where additional coverage or capacity are needed.
What should consumers know about the Verizon Wireless network? We monitor and manage our network 24/7, to ensure consumers have service.
What achievement/aspect of your job are you most proud of?
I feel very proud that Verizon Wireless entrusts me to perform such important work.
